Code of Conduct
All students and facilitators of The Concept Cognition® Classomb Cortex CMS should govern their lives and participation within and without the confines of these online walls, according to the ancient Kemetic Principles of Ma'at. *
Ma'at is the philosophical concept of living a life of Truth, Righteousness (Justice), Balance, Harmony, Propriety, Reciprocity and Order. Ma'at represents an exposition of virtuous rules of living by which one may exist in harmony with fellow humans and all creation.
TRUTH - The first truth is the truth of self--knowing thy true self. Man/Woman discovers Truth by living according to the laws of his or her true nature, which is the same nature of their Creator. Truth implies Integrity and Honesty.
RIGHTEOUSNESS (Justice) - The action of fair dealings with self and others. The quality of treating people impartially based on honesty and no bias based on class, color or creed. Obligated to help the vulnerable and to free the oppressed.
PROPRIETY - The standard of what is acceptable in a highly civilized society with regards to an individuals conduct or speech. It is the proper way of handling oneself wherever we have relations with others; Self-mastery.
HARMONY - Being free from destructive contention based on love and respect for family, friends, and community. Living in Accord, Peace and Tranquility.
BALANCE - Represents the scales of life. Knowing what is necessary and what is excessive. Mental and Emotional steadiness (cerebral balance); Balance between ones emotions and reason. It allows one to be, "quicker of mind, than of tongue."
RECIPROCITY - "Doing to others what one wants others to do to themselves." Do not do to a person what you dislike. Proactive reciprocity is when one does things that provoke positive actions of others.
ORDER - The correct, natural, and regulated, formation, flow, and organization of things in the universe (Divine Order), the physical world (society) and the natural world (environment), which are interconnected and interrelated. The self-mastered person is in order and has order in his/her life.
*Universal ethical principles. The word Ma'at translated means, "that which is straight." It implies anything that is true, ordered, or balanced. Ma'at was connected to the entire existence of the universe, and was not limited to ethics for human beings alone. Understanding of how the world functioned and how it had been created, as it was presented in the many different orientations in ancient Kemet (Ancient Egypt), was vital to understanding Ma'at. Ma'at was the perfect order, toward which man should strive.
